Anthony Joshua ready to announce next opponent and could face Jarrell Miller in America, says Eddie Hearn

Joshua is due to fight at Wembley in April but could face Miller in America if he does not get his preferred opponent

Anthony Joshua will announce his next opponent in the next seven days, says his promoter Eddie Hearn.

Hearn has Wembley booked for an event on 13 April 2019 and Joshua is expected to defend his world heavyweight titles in his third fight at the stadium.

Tyson Fury, Dillian Whyte, Deontay Wilder and Jarrell Miller have been linked with Joshua, but finding his next opponent has not been an easy process.

The WBC has ordered Wilder’s representatives to open rematch talks with Fury following their controversial draw in December. Wilder had been in conversation with Joshua over a unification bout before his fight against Fury and Hearn insists there is currently “radio silence” from the American’s camp.

Whyte wants to fight Joshua in a rematch of their 2015 bout after beating Dereck Chisora and will be aware he has to secure a deal with the world champion before Joshua begins fighting with Fury and Wilder. The pair, both under Hearn’s Matchroom promotional company, are in talks but Whyre recently turned down an initial offer to fight Joshua in April.

Hearn, who was staging an event at Masison Square Gardens in America, says Joshua will fight Miller stateside if he can’t strike a deal with his rivals.

“I think you’ll get a decision next week,” Hearn told DAZN. “For me, if he can’t get Wilder, Fury, or Dillian, he must come to American and Jarrell would be at the front of that queue.

“There is radio silence from Wilder, Fury we’re talking to and Whyte we’re talking to.”

“He [Whyte] has got his price tag, Anthony’s got the price tag he wants to pay. It’s a voluntary shot for Dillian Whyte, and part of me would love to see Anthony Joshua come to the states.

“’Big Baby’ Miller is creeping into the top five right now. He’s making some noise in America and to be a global star at some time, you have to fight in America.

“And to see Anthony Joshua fill up Madison Square Garden, with 21-22,000, that is a real statement of intent for a heavyweight world champion, for a Brit especially, so we’ll see what happens”
