Family and friends have pleaded for information on the whereabouts of Kenny Mukendi, a rapper from London who is missing in Brazil.

Mr Mukendi, also known as Kenny Vulcan, disappeared earlier this month having moved to Rio de Janeiro to pursue music and acting.

The Foreign Office confirmed it was supporting the family of a UK citizen, while Brazilian police issued a missing persons poster online.

Mr Mukendi, 20, from Woolwich, disappeared in the Barra da Tijuca neighbourhood on 12 April, police said.

A media enquiries number for the missing persons unit, or DDPA, could not be reached, but a spokesperson told Mail Online that officers had taken statements from witnesses and were reviewing security camera footage.

Friends and family have created a GoFundMe page to aid the search.

On it, they wrote: “No-one has been able to identify his whereabouts since around 1pm on 13 April, 2018, when he left the recording studio to return to the residence he was sharing with his girlfriend.

“His social media accounts were deleted soon after his disappearance and his phone was traced to 15 miles away from the studio, which was not on his route home.

“His friends and family are incredibly worried about him as this has never happened previously.”

Mr Mukendi was described as “a talented, warm-hearted, young man”. He moved to Rio late last year “to pursue his music and acting career”, the fundraising page said.

A Foreign Office spokesman said: “Our staff are supporting the family of a British man who has been reported missing in Brazil, and are in touch with the Brazilian authorities.”
